Discover the unique charm of WITA’s traditional Tipi Village, where family-sized tipis invite you to immerse yourself in Nakota culture. Each of our tipis is thoughtfully designed to accommodate families, providing a cozy space for up to five guests, ensuring a communal and family-oriented atmosphere. (Currently maximum of 15 guests per night.)

Full Regalia Experience: $75 per day—dive deeper into the culture by adorning yourself in traditional attire.
Buffalo Hide Blankets: $50 per day—wrap yourself in comfort and history with beautifully crafted blankets.
At the heart of your stay is a truly immersive Nakota cultural experience. The Tipi Village is designed to reflect traditional ways of living while offering essential comforts for a meaningful and memorable stay.
Accommodation Details
Bedding: Each family-sized tipi is set up with comfortable bedding to accommodate up to five guests. For a deeper cultural experience, guests can upgrade their stay with buffalo hide blankets for $50 per day rental.
Restroom Facilities: Clean and well-maintained restroom facilities are located conveniently near the tipi village, ensuring comfort while staying connected to the land.
Showers: Basic shower access is provided to support multi-day stays.
Refrigeration & Food Storage: In keeping with the traditional nature of the experience, refrigeration is minimal. Guests are encouraged to take part in communal meals and cultural food preparation workshops offered daily.
Optional Add-Ons: For those seeking the full experience, traditional regalia rentals are available for $75 per day to wear during ceremonies, storytelling sessions, and cultural workshops.
Meals: Guests will enjoy traditional Indigenous meals, many of which are prepared during workshops such as Bannock Making, Meat Smoking, and Fishing & Canoeing. Communal meals may include locally sourced meat, seasonal berries, and herbal teas. Guests are encouraged to participate in food preparation as part of the experience.

Guests staying for a later experience can store their belongings in a secure storage area near the main lodge.
Things to know and bring with you
Guests are encouraged to bring weather-appropriate clothing and personal toiletries.
The experience is technology-light to promote reconnection with the land and culture.
Smoking, alcohol, and drugs are strictly prohibited in all ceremonial and communal areas.
We recommend booking workshops in advance to ensure space availability.
Transportation/Location
Whitecourt ISGA Tourism Association is located on Treaty 6 territory at Little McLeod Lake in Carson-Pegasus Provincial Park, near Whitecourt, Alberta.
(The Nakota’s called it Xora Mne Washtae, translated Good Fish Lake.
Private transportation is recommended.
Limited shuttle service may be arranged for groups or special events with advance notice.
Public transportation is not currently available directly to the site.
Directions to WITA Cultural Camp
From Edmonton, Alberta
(travel time is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, 210 kilometres)
Travel west on Highway 16
Turn north (right) on Highway 43.
Continue on highway 43 through Whitecourt, Alberta to the Eagle River Casino and Travel Plaza (look for the WITA signs)
Turn north (right) on highway 32
Turn east (right) on Township Road 612 (look for the sign to Carson-Pegasus Provincial Park)
Before the Carson-Pegasus Park, turn right to the Little McLeod Day Use Area.
Watch for the WITA signs for parking.
