Our WITA Cultural Experiences will give you the opportunity to join us to experience the excitement of traditional Nakota life.
We offer our Cultural Experiences every second week through the summer until the end of October.
All sessions run from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm

Directions to WITA Cultural Camp
From Edmonton, Alberta
(travel time is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, 210 kilometres)
Travel west on Highway 16
Turn north (right) on Highway 43.
Continue on highway 43 through Whitecourt, Alberta to the Eagle River Casino and Travel Plaza (look for the WITA signs)
Turn north (right) on highway 32
Turn east (right) on Township Road 612 (look for the sign to Carson-Pegasus Provincial Park)
Before the Carson-Pegasus Park, turn right to the Little McLeod Day Use Area.
Watch for the WITA signs for parking.

The Whitecourt Isga Tourism Association is pleased to offer our guests the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the traditional Nakota heritage.
All experiences and features are designed to be completely authentic to the Nakota people, providing a deeply authentic experience for guests of all ages and backgrounds.
Our authentic and comfortable tipi accommodations and value-added Cultural Experiences will enable you to embrace and appreciate the rich culture of the Nakota people.
During your stay in the Tipi Village, you’ll have complete exposure to the traditional Nakota family environment. All staff, including cooks, maintenance workers, security personnel, storytellers, singers, and dancers, will be dressed in complete traditional regalia.
Our Tipi Village has a capacity for up to 35 guests, making it an intimate experience that is perfect for families and groups.
This experiential tourism venture was developed with adventurers and tourists in mind. The Tipi Village will provide access to many traditional, family oriented teachings taught by Nakota people.
Although the Tipi Village offers an authentic view into the traditional way of life for Nakota people, modern amenities will be available nearby.
In addition to our immersive Experiences, guests will have the opportunity to purchase a variety of traditional goods and crafts, such as moccasins, traditional clothing and regalia, and items made by local and regional Indigenous Artisans.

The Tipi Village (coming soon) will boast 7 authentic family sized tipis, which sleeps a family of five.

Take Home Materials and Souvenirs for Purchase
Local artisans and Indigenous makers will have their products displayed in the Lobby/Administration building Gift Shop. The Gift Shop will feature handmade items from a multitude of local and regional artisans, as well as items created onsite during workshops.
